About Us
The Shade Tree Collective’s hard-driving bluegrass and innovative originals unite audiences with energy and enthusiasm. Stemming from the Old Line State and expanding with musicians and influences from Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and beyond, The Shade Tree Collective makes audiences everywhere whoop and holler, bringing people together for a bluegrass experience they won’t soon forget.
Our Start
Dark and silent times ended with calls for the live music of old. First came murmurs from the hills and valleys. The sweet tones of guitar and mandolin answered the call, sending a musical beacon for others to join. A chorus of bass, fiddle, and banjo united under the shade of a mighty maple. Voices raised in triumphant harmony, this collective of musicians transformed the darkness of isolation into the satisfying shade of a tree on a beautiful summer afternoon.
Our Sound
Traditional bluegrass is at the heart of what we do. Perfectly matched harmony vocals, high and lonesome solos, and driving instrumental breaks combine to create an authentic sound audiences love. With foot-stomping originals and surprising covers thrown into the mix, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
